Ms. Willis's 6th grade language arts students created figurative language books using Story Kit & Skitch on the iPads. Each page of their book included an example of a literary device, an image to represent the literary device, and an audio recording of the student reading their example. As an added bonus, students also had the opportunity to read Story Kit books teaching about Ballpark Comparisons of metric and customary units of measure that were created in Mrs. Osborne's 6th grade math classes as well as Poetry Books that were created by Ms. Seifried's 6th grade language arts classes. Anyone interested in viewing these storybooks should check out the 7B iPads and see how valuable these iPads are becoming as an authentic in-house publishing venue for our students.
Parents, if you have not created your own account on Parent Portal, or you need to modify your contact information, now is the time. On Friday, June 1st, Parent Portal registrations and online contact editing will be turned off and no further registrations or edits will be accepted until the Fall.
It's hard to believe, but this is the final LRMS Newsletter for the school year! Please take a few moments to read the newsletter for important information, including spring SOL testing dates and exam schedules; textbook, library, and cafeteria end of year reminders; fall orientation dates for the 2012-2013 school year; news from our health clinic and sports physical information; PTSO items of interest; student recognition including Science Fair winners, music achievements, and Wolves of the Month; and a comprehensive calendar of events for the remainder of the school year.Warning!
