*** SPECIAL INVITATION ***
Parents and students who are new to this area are invited to attend a “Get Acquainted Hour” on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Gym suits will not be sold and there will not be anyone accepting money for lunch accounts at this time. This time is set aside for newcomers to the area to meet each other.
Orientation Days for 2010-11 School Year
LAKE RIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL
2010-2011 ORIENTATION DAYS
To facilitate a smooth entry on the first day of school, we are asking all students who are enrolled in Lake Ridge Middle School to come to school to pick up their advisory assignments. During this time students will be shown where their advisory stations are located and be given a complete tour of the building. Parents are also welcome to attend.
The following dates have been scheduled for orientation:
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25, 2010 - SIXTH GRADE
AND
THURSDAY, AUGUST 26, 2010 - SEVENTH & EIGHTH GRADES
ORIENTATION HOURS:
(Students may come anytime during these times.)
9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
1:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
(The office will be closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Gym suits will be available for purchase on these two days. Once school has started, gym suits may be purchased during the student’s P.E. class. Checks should be made payable to “Lake Ridge Middle School.”
Shirt (mandatory) - $4.00
Shorts (mandatory) - $7.00
Gym Bag (optional) -$12.00
Food Services personnel will also be available during the hours outlined above on both days. You may pre-purchase as many lunches as you like by putting money on account. Checks should be made payable to “Prince William County Schools Food and Nutrition Services.” Lunches for the 2010-11 school year will cost $2.25 per day and milk will be 60 cents. Breakfast is $1.20.
***Please be aware that any student who is unable to come on the assigned orientation day may stop by the school office the following week to pick up his/her advisory assignment. Anyone who does not pick up their advisory assignment before school starts should report to the cafeteria on the first day of school. There will be plenty of volunteers on hand to assist students in making their way to advisory stations.

Students trying out for school athletic teams must have an annual sports physical on file. This physical must be dated after May 1, 2010. Athletic physicals will be given on Thursday, August 26 beginning at 3:00 p.m. The cost of the physical is $27.00. Checks should be made payable to “Family Medicine.” Middle school sports physical forms are available on the PWCS website and in the school office. Parents must complete the medical history page and sign the back to indicate their permission for the student to participate.
Lake Ridge Middle School does have a dress code. Shirts must have a defined sleeve and shorts and skirts must be at least finger-tip length as measured by the individual’s arm by his or her side.
Backpacks with wheels are not permitted.

The School Counseling Office will be open on the

Registrations will be done by appointment only in August. Forms that are needed for registration are available online or at the school.
School Fusion
Class Pages will not be available in School Fusion from August 13 to August 28, 2010 due to system processing.

June 30 to August 17, 2010.
